The mission

What this organization describes

engaging, educating, and exciting our community through symphonic music.
Monterey Symphony aims to engage, educate, and excite our community through the performance and continual discovery of symphonic music. The Monterey Symphony produces and presents the best musical programs, educational activities and community events possible to engage people of the Central Coast and the Salinas Valley in the continual discovery of symphonic music. We perform major works by great composers, lesser-known works by them and their contemporaries, works by living composers and popular music that uses symphonic instrumentation. We invest in deepening the musical experience for our current patrons, identifying and recruiting more individuals who share their characteristics, and diversifying the ethnic and socioeconomic composition of our audience.
