descriptionMission & description | United Way of Davidson County works to bring together community resources to identify and meet the human service needs in Davidson County through responsible leadership. In the early 50s, businessmen and women and industry leaders in Lexington and Thomasville, two townships within Davidson County, were concerned about the number of solicitations they and their employees received. Their concerns were expressed in Chamber of Commerce meetings. Chamber officials investigated the possibility of forming a United Fund. With direction from larger communities already attracted to the idea, a combined effort began separately in the two communities, and two United Ways were formed. In 1993 those two United Ways merged to become the United Way of Davidson County. |
