Exploring the past, present and future of New York City
Founded in 1923, the Museum of the City of New York explores the past, present, and future of New York City and celebrate its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation. To that end, the Museum presents a variety of exhibitions, public programs, and publications, all investigating what gives New York its singular character. Our collection of over 1.5 million objects and images includes items of decorative art; photography, prints and drawings; a theater and Broadway collection; a toy collection; fashion, costumes and textiles; and paintings and sculptures.
