descriptionMission & description | The Bowery Mission's goal is to be the most effective provider of compassionate care and life transformation for hurting people in New York City. One of the nation's oldest rescue missions, The Bowery Mission now offers programs and services in nine locations for those experiencing homelessness and poverty. We aim to build trust with our guests by establishing name-knowing relationships, inviting them to choose help, start an individualized care plan and transform their lives. We also serve children experiencing poverty in New York City, with the goal that they never need our services as adults. In 2017, we provided a total of 653,500 warm meals, 167,300 nights of shelter, 46,400 articles of clothing, and 1,300 onsite medical/dental/optometry exams to our guests. In addition, we served 354 adults through our residential programs, and we served 288 children in our year-round programs and 900 children at our summer camp in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. |
