descriptionMission & description | Founded in 1982, the Ounce of Prevention Fund invests in the healthy development of infants, children, adolescents and families through an innovative cycle of program implementation, research, training, policy analysis and advocacy in order to prevent physical, social and emotional problems later in life. On any given day, we reach about 1,200 children through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs at 15 ethnically diverse sites. We reach another 2,000 families through our statewide network of programs providing Parents Too Soon, Healthy Families and Doula services. What's special about our approach is our intense focus on the earliest days, months and years of life, and our emphasis on fostering the healthy social-emotional development of every child. |
